Can it run Linux? Otherwise I don’t give a shit.
But unfortunately Arm ( and Qualcomm) suck at supporting Linux, especially on the graphics drivers.ARM + linux is the go-to with raspberry pi and cloud containers. These dont require dedicated graphics hardware though.
Raspberry Pi specifically supports Linus, and has its own Linux distro, and that is awesome.
But they have their own boot process, so the Pi support for Linux cannot be transferred to other Arm devices. And despite the good support for Linux it took them years to get 3D supported on the graphics side.
Raspberry Pi is very much an exception from the rule. But there are some others like Pine 64.
But when you move to laptops or even Arm phones or Tablets the support is abysmal, unless it SPECIFICALLY suports Arm.
Arm PC’s do not have the same boot process as normal PC’s and laptops, and AFAIK that already is a problem. Arm PC’s are locked in harder.
On Raspberry Pi it’s allowed to install whatever you want, so you can easily install your preferred distro.
Fedora should run just fine on that thing
Why do you think that? Last I heard these Arm laptops have all sorts of problems, and they apparently also have boot lockers.
This is what Google has to say about it:
Running Linux on the Acer Aspire Go 15 (AG15-Q31P)—which features the ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon C processor—presents significant hurdles. Because Snapdragon ARM chips require specialized upstream kernel support, device trees, and signed drivers for components like the Adreno GPU and Wi-Fi, out-of-the-box mainline Linux compatibility for this specific entry-tier ARM platform is currently experimental and incomplete.
Edit:
To the Idiots downvoting because I show the AI result, but have nothing to offer on the issue themselves. 🤡 🤢This thread on reddit says the same thing, although there are disagreements:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/1nrva4o/are_qualcomm_snapdragon_supported_on_linux/But clearly not solid info that would make me risk buying a device that may or may not work.
Pick your poison.Edit PS:
I also don’t see why Fedora would run better than other distros? Maybe they have an excellent Arm team IDK?you asked ai? cool. i asked my dog and got basically the same answer.
It’s consistent with what I’ve read other places, there’s a reddit thread saying almost exactly the same.
Claiming it’s like asking your dog is a crazy strawman by you and pure idiocy. And you show nothing to expose any inaccuracy in the Goggle response. In short you are wasting my time and I will now block you because you are just annoying. Can you block me while your at it? I have the feeling we’re not gonna be best friends. Cheers.
Arm should stay the fuck away from mainstream computer or we ended up like phones with locked bootloader and hardwares compatibility nightmare
Less to do with the architecture and more with expectations. Like how nothing in electric cars makes them inherently less repairable.
