this has to be one of my favorite images of 2025

- has a gambling addiction
- complains about not having money
I miss the days when crypto was only for secure transactions and more of a novelty. Now it’s all either a scam or used for gambling.
If I kept all my crypto 10+ years ago instead of using it (I thought that using crypto for everything was cool at the time and thought thats what it was supposed to be used for) and after calculations I could have afford a nice big house ~$350,000 by now.
Now I feel sad that tech bros got to profit big time off something I thought would be perfect for financial privacy, life makes no damn sense :( I even jumped into it fairly early in 2012…
Vaguely lamenting spending 5000ish bitcoin sending people pies on r/randomActsOfPizza. Good time tho, made some people’s day and that was worth it.
Oh wow I remember that subreddit and I also remember people gifting me dogecoin in the reddit comments but I feel much less bad about that one at least lol
I may have sounded a bit salty about my loss, but hey don’t feel bad about yours too, at least you can say you helped people out and possibly changed the someone’s life by feeding someone who may have otherwise been struggling hard. I have been there many times. I don’t remember much details from that sub, but I am assuming the free pizza subreddit was intended for people who really needed it, which is cool of you to do!
If my crypto went towards helping people, I probably wouldn’t even be as bothered by it except for all the grifters abusing it now. If anything, I should be doing more helping like that now if my bank wasn’t constantly in the red at least. Oh, I know! I’ll buy $500 of bitcoin and I’m sure it will be doubled over $1,000 by the end of August! I just gotta trust the crypto process bro!! /s
Just stick to bitcoin, monero, and ethereum.
Crypto transactions have never been more “secure” than wire transfers with 2FA.
At the time it was best security for trekking an ancient chinese trade route.
And scams and gamblers are useful for covering for secure transactions
Oh, is this the reason you lot voted him in again?
Fucks sake. Clown country
Why does lemmy.zip posts images as links?
It’s the same as any other image, but it’s a .avif file. Looks like they convert uploads to that, probably to save space, and the UI doesn’t currently treat them as embedable
Probably depends on the UI you’re using. I’m on Thunder mobile posting this comment and I see the image fine.
My b, guys
My guess it’s to deal with some cloudfare-based breakage.

From what I can tell it started in the last year. Shit annoys me so much I’ve just stopped posting. My dumb ass shouldn’t have signed up for a lemmy instance with a “.zip” extension anyway…
