Okay so the handful of steel producers can ship cheaper, where is all this steel going that it needs a 50% gov’t subsidy on shipping?

Like is this auto and aerospace industry support? Is this just making it cheaper to ship to China? Is it making it easier to buy Canadian instead of Chinese steel?

If I need a train car full of steel, shipping is going to happen by train anyways no? It’d cost a fortune by truck and most of Canada is land locked.

Just saying I don’t understand the economic goals here.

It’ll be going to the border, this is taxpayer subsidy of US tariff costs to keep steel suppliers costs down so they can sell down south.
