Jokes are when you’re laughing together, bullying is when they’re laughing at you. Hope this helps.
If your friend is mean to you and belittling you, he’s not your friend. He just found a therapy puppet for himself.
On the other hand, you can’t have banter without a bit of mockery. A relationship without some traded jabs is tepid, superficial, at best. It indicates that the people in the relationship don’t really trust each other, that the emotional stability of the relationship is untested and unreliable.
It shouldn’t be constant, and it shouldn’t be one-sided, and it also shouldn’t be completely absent.
But also not communicating when your friend crossed a line is not good for a relationship either.
Who knew there’d be some nuance to this

What about self deprecating jokes people make from their death bed?
Mumbling to my friend through my oxygen mask:
“I was an alright bloke in the end, wasn’t I?”
“Nah, you were a total cunt”
Would totally work within my friend group
Me: punches them in the face
Me: haha just pranking bro
is that a banksy painting?
