Wow, this article is a great resource to show someone who thinks privacy is pointless because “I have nothing to hide.”
It’s hard to find good real-world examples of how people’s data is being used in ways they would be against if only they knew about them.
I hope you’re right but my guess the response will be “lulz that will not happen”. “It’s a conspiracy”. “There would be a revolution if that happened”. “They coulnd’t find that out just by knowing which services I use, exactly at what times and how often, how I engage with it”.
I think there will always be people stuck with their existing confirmation biases, but if the advice merely helps less people it’s still better than nothing at all… some people are just beyond saving.
They were arguing in bad faith anyway, cut those freaks off.
Not a good article, unfortunately. Vague weasel words for the first 5 paragraphs before they get to anything of substance when they say some platforms potentially have something like this. I gave up shortly after. I’m against the practice of course and I don’t doubt employers would use this, but if the journalists find something they should really let us know.
