A full-featured 2D + 3D CAD application built in Rust with GPU-accelerated rendering. Native DWG & DXF read and write, paper space, ACIS solids, dimensions, layouts. An open source community project by Hakan Seven, recognized and promoted by the OpenAEC Foundation.
Just going to ignore the community rules mate?
Aside of it being slopped is this selfhostable on a server? I can only see app download links (though it seems like they have a browser demo?)
Using AI to code doesn’t make it ‘vibe coding.’ It is currently the best FOSS CAD.
Claude directly has over 1100000 lines of direct code contribution. It has pretty much the same amount of code committed directly as the creator has.
His entire coding history before Claude consisted of changing readmes or searching and replacing project name text or modifying a dead link to his own link.
Suddenly in 4 months, without ever producing actual code before, he becomes a very competent coder enough to tackle mCAD, a notoriously difficult coding task that takes many many years with teams to make meaningful progress on?
That is vibe coding.
And his co-contributer “gianlucafiore” is exactly the same story. Has literally only made issues until LLM coding got released and then late 2025 (December) switched to making commits that he badly copied from an LLM such that some of the commits are literally one full line (as direct in-file working of the LLM wasn’t as accessible then)
That is vibe coding.
So the top 3 contributes are
- An LLM
- Someone that only has committed any code via an LLM
- Someone who has only made issues before beginning with an LLM and submits clearly generated code
There is likely no human-made code in the entire project besides changing a couple links.
So you read the rules and chose to ignore them…
Rulues was not readed, but i do know most people do not want AI code. So i did know what the issue you point just from your comment
I will not hold post about great FOSS project becuse of AI code.
Thanks.

based on what metric?
I have been using and contributing to FOSS projects for over 10 years, and I was looking for a FOSS alternative to AutoCAD—this is definitely the best 2D CAD. Even with AI and coding skills, you cannot create an app like this. This man did a great job, and releasing it under GPL is awesome.
i mean in comparison to other open cad applications.

I don’t understand what you mean by ‘God’. But no coding skills (or AI) can create a great FOSS CAD project like this. construction engineers need to know about this. we have been searching for it for years
@myusername @selfhosted
I meant exactly that, if you use that shit your proyect, your proyect it’s vibed coded. It could be the best thing ever done, still vibed coded
OP, I get the impression that English isn’t your native tongue, though you’re doing a pretty good job of it. No worries, French isn’t my native tongue either. There are specific rules to posting in this community even if you are promoting someone else’s project/app. They are linked in the side bar. If English is not your native tongue, maybe copy them to Chat GPT and have it translate into your preferred language. The rules are pretty simple to go by.
As far as the pushback against AI, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. A lot here are very adamant about AI. I honestly don’t care too much.
Thank you for your post.
even if you are promoting someone else’s project/app.
To correct you on this - ifyou are linking someone else’s project/app, it would be entirely impossible to require a disclosure. A tag is a nice-to-have depending on how visible those elements are, but the paid/30 day account age for f/loss would still apply.
I suspect I’ll need to clean up the language some if this is the takeaway.
Me skuzi
Thanks, I’ll check the rules and see where I can help. And yes, I only use English online, not in real life.
No worries mate!
That’s a pretty cool concept. I did try uploading a generic 897.88 Kb *.dwg file but everything locked up with this error:
panicked at /rustc/8bab26f4f68e0e26f0bb7960be334d5b520ea452/library/std/src/sys/time/unsupported.rs:35:9: time not implemented on this platformPlease inform him on github. I see he do a fast fix.
Ahhh, you’re not the dev. Sorry, without any other information, I just assumed.
How to build the web version.
