BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Thursday night Sullivan County Commission work session that was called to discuss the use of Flock cameras in Sullivan County turned heated after a county commissioner called for the public hanging of Flock Safety’s CEO, Garrett Langley.
What started as a civil discussion turned heated following those comments made by Commissioner Joe Carr.
“I believe that Flock right now is one of the most hated companies in America,” Carr stated during the meeting. “They are one of the most corrupt companies in America. And, quite frankly, sir, I don’t think we can make America great again without hanging your CEO publicly for treason.”

I’m torn between not wanting to make political violence normal and wanting these terrible people to destroy themselves with in fighting.

Political violence has been normalized for a pretty good amount of time now.
The US has been having a pretty good amount of… violent Nazi/Christian Theocrat/White Supremacist public intimidation marches… President incited an insurrection… public brawls when bigots try to assault pride events… and that was all during Trump’s first term.
I think like at least 5 people have now attempted to assasinate Trump, probably more than that…
Kirk got popped… etc etc.
Yeah, I think it’s a dangerous precedent to set for a county commissioner to openly call for public execution.
I think that should be on the table for the worst offenders, like trump and most of his cabinet, musk, thiel, etc.; But it’s for the courts to decide whether their actions amount to treason and what the sentence should be. That power doesn’t belong in the executive branch, not beyond appointed special counsel to investigate wrongdoing to bring it before a grand jury.
That being said, this commissioner literally said he wants to “make america great again” so clearly he drank the trump koolaid and is only upset about this because it’s blowing up in his face enough for the constituents he cares about to raise a fuss.
That definitely is not a good reason to call for executions.
I’m not saying the Flock CEO hasn’t committed what amounts to treason, but again, that’s for the courts to decide. The US government let him do it all for this long, so it’s not like he was subverting them or anything. This smells like making him a patsy to avoid accountability for allowing it to happen in the first place.
Also, it’s not like killing off the CEO will fix the problem. They’ll just replace him and continue on with business as usual. What needs to happen is Flock as a company needs to be dissolved, the shareholders held liable for damages, the cameras removed and destroyed, and their data centers and other properties, hardware, infrastructure, etc., all need to be liquidated, databases wiped, drives destroyed, etc. etc. etc.
Executing the CEO achieves none of that. All it does is normalize state-sponsored violence.

Don’t be torn. Neither of them care for you or your society. You can only get so far with kindness and pacifism.
We’re well past the point of political violence being normal.
There’s a fascist patamilitary force murdering and kidnapping. They’re systematically denying safe food and medical care which has resulted in many deaths. The first time round they were literally seperating kids from their parents and putting the kids in cages.
That’s all political violence that’s happening in the open.
People are being killed now because Flock read their license plate wrong. The violence has always been here, it is just the state and large corporations that has been doing it
