This nondeterministic mess < nix flakes
Unfortunately Nix documentation is sparse, the LSPs are almost useless, and the learning curve is the steepest of any programming language I’ve ever tried.
Nix is better if you can understand it, but very few people I work with do.
I’m an actual Labrador retriever at the terminal and this is really not the case anymore. Nix is pretty easy actually.
I attempted to learn two weeks ago. I know Rust, C, and Python. Nix documentation is getting better, but still nowhere near as good as most other langs. And the LSPs are genuinely useless.
Why can’t we have this kind of information as a document that we can read, rather than a video which requires a whole lot more infrastructure?
I mean there probably is somewhere, but OP watched this video and liked it. I dislike videos as well, but different people have different preferences, I don’t see why this shouldn’t be posted here
Cause you and everyone else won’t pay for it. 🤷♂️
If you think YouTube is paying for it, you’re not running a channel of your own at something like 0.001 per view.
They do. For the the top. And YouTube creates exposure for sponsorship. Everyone can dream 🤷♂️.
I agree, not clicking that link. The aim seems not to spread information, but to monetize it. If you wanted a video you could just use PeerTube.
God forbid someone get paid for their work!
You are right, I was a bit too harsh, sorry for that. I saw Linux and then my “information should be open for everybody spidey sense” rang. Of course you are allowed to make money for your work. I am not a very big YouTube fan and I don’t like YouTube posts though.
Extra work due little to no effort? No thanks, hard pass.
