I’m not a troll, I just call other people out for their BS.

I think most of lemmy.today is bad faith astroturfing.

This is not the first time !PapaSkwat@lemmy.today has preemptively banned me from a community I’m pretty sure I’ve never interacted with.

This is a warning for others. Do not assume posts on Lemmy.today are real or in good faith.

Here is a related post with similar circumstances.

I get what you’re saying. But here’s the deal: I get accused of false shit like being a fascist, daily. For no reason other than people like to brigade and pile on, jsut because they see someone else say it. That’s why you won’t see any actual examples of my so-called “fascist” posts. Because there are none.

If someone insults me like that and doesn’t back down, I’m gonna ban him from my little community. Don’t get me wrong, people have the right and freedom to say any shit they wanna say about anyone. But I also have to right to ban for it.

Most of my haters hate me and all of my content, and all of my small communities anyway. Many don’t block me or my communities just so they can come into them and downvote every single post. So it’s no real loss to them when they get banned.

Even OP said he doesn’t think it’s a loss and that he doesn’t care about my communities or the ban. But he still calls me a fascist. Which really cheapens that word and the very real suffering that that word represents, so I’ll do my small part and not put up with it in my communities.

If you had a community, and a guy came in and said you’re a fucking Nazi and he hates your community, and no matter what you said or what you did, he kept calling you a Nazi, would you let him hang out there? Or would you kick him out and let him go rant somewhere else?

And of course, he then goes and tells everyone you’e a Nazi, because you kicked him out. But at least he’s not in your community doing it. That’s the scenario here.

I also think the terms “fascist” and “Nazi” are way overused on Lemmy, which weakens the meaning of words tied to genuinely horrific ideologies and atrocities. Calling someone a fascist or a Nazi just because they banned you from a Lemmy community that you dislike is a careless and bad use of those terms.

Whatever happened to just calling people assholes, dickwads, or jerks? I miss those times! I won’t lose any sleep because some random angry extremist Lemmy users call me a fascist, but I’m happy to correct them when it happens.

You’re a shitty fascist then? The implication that you would not ban anyone in that situation who was cussing you out with conventional insults is kinda stupid but we can blast through it. If you banned someone that cussed you out instead of labelling you then that would be fine, actually.

The truth is words like fascist have taken new meanings since the internet. It’s called linguistic drift the way to resist it is to be better at using words not whining. You have authority to ban people from a forum, you use that authority to ban people that criticise you that is the extent of it.
