Reacher does walk a lot. And not just casually, he will walk for miles as a time across town and avoid busses/taxi unless he’s traveling across states. Plus he tends to get into a lot of sticky situations he needs to fight and exert his way out of.
Walking for miles makes you the opposite of whatever this sculpted shit is, it’s an endurance activity. In order to look like that you need to spend workdays in a gym doing specific gym things, it’s a bodybuilder’s body, not a walker’s body or “occasionally has to fight random people in a parking lot” body

The excessive walking was more to burn the fat as opposed to being sedentary.
Yeah, but it burns muscles at a comparable rate. Those things go away if you don’t use them, very, very quickly.
