They (Google) didn’t fail at the education market. I’ve not seen that “start them young” has been effective for the OS, but services/ecosystem remain contagious beyond school.
Microsoft did. Windows 11 SE was way too heavy to run on Chromebook-esque hardware… Even single tasking was dreadful. Before that, vendors like HP (Stream) sold a near Chromebook equivalent with Win10… similar problem, but 11SE was worse. So this new heap is likely their next run at it or WindowsRT 2.0.

Chrome OS is dead, that’s a failure.
Google is replacing it with Android.
