That’s assuming this image was originally made to be shared on Lemmy. But most content in this community almost certainly comes from somewhere else first.
We inherit secondhand social media engagement metrics.
Useless censorship has become a shibboleth for social media brain rot. People do it to mark themselves as current on social media trends. That’s all it is. There’s no evidence that it has anything to do with content strikes.
No, in general. I just think it’s funny that the internet was invented to transfer information and the first thing we did with it was figure out how to censor it - copyrighted media, news, p*rnography, the word pornography, etc.
why tf is the word drunk censored.
that’s it now they know you are dr*nk
Engagement bait. Just downvote and move on next time.
Pretty sure lemmy doesnt track any engagement except votes.

Pretty sure you can sort by activity. Also, most stuff on here was on a different platform first.
Sort by active is calculated from votes and age of last reply, but the number of comments itself is pretty useless.
People copy stuff from elsewhere. This is the internet. Blaming OP is just st*pid
Nah, fuck anyone normalising this shit.
OP can edit and claim this as their own work:
EXCUSE ME??? CHILDREN MIGHT SEE THIS???

Your use of the word shibboleth is a shibboleth
Thanks you 🙏, I had no idea what that word was
Mind your fucking language! /j
Engagement bait
They didn’t even cover the entire letter. It just looks like there’s stuff stuck to the fourth wall.
Information is monetized by censorship.
on lemmy?

C*nsorshp really has gotten outta hand.
It’s not to censor the idea. It’s that dupe detection bots use ocr text detection and fucking with letters can defeat it
And the bots would then take down the image with the offending text?
yeah. thats not lemmy though right?
Well, I mean it’s right there in the image. Although, I guess Lemmy doesn’t have anything directly to do with censoring it.
I asked why OP censored the image.
Is it to fool censorship bots that use OCR to recognize banned words?
does lemmy use OCR or have banned words?
