Ugh, why roguelike? I would like worms to come back properly, They are also remaking (or making?) another Worms game (teased at the end of the video), hopefully that is more traditional worms game, updated with modern day QoL sensibilities.
You can always play the old games. Armageddon holds up really well. Also, I bet this will have all the multiplayer game modes too. Why wouldn’t it? For single player I bet roguelike could be really fun for this format.
True, just sharing my feelings that the next game, which looks great, might not be what I want from it. Will wait for the reviews for actually deciding if it’s for me or not.
I’m so sick of “roguelikes” 😆
I’m in the opposite boat. Ever since Dead Cells I can’t get enough of roguelikes.
Roguelikes are both hated and loved by many. Which is why even though lots of people complain about them, they get enough sales that everyone is making them.
There is a market segment that loves them and you can cut some corners on difficulty tuning. As long as the game is impossibly hard with no meta-progression unlocked and laughably easy with all meta-progression unlocked, you can call it good enough.
Yes, cynically I think it’s a cheap way for studios to make a game addictive without adding a lot of content. It extends the length of the game, but you’re just grinding, doing the same over and over. I do appreciate a lot of people enjoy this, but they’re not for me, and I still suspect a lot of studios are just leaning on the genre for the wrong reasons.
I’m all about that life now that I’m older. I don’t have the focus and dedication required to get good like I used to, but like, I also want to get good.
