To mitigate the issues with instance instability and mod dumbfuckery, I’ve been considering starting something self-hosted with ActivityPub integration (Wordpress plugin works okish), but it’s a lot of work for the questionable payoff of being able to shitpost through the ages.
What the Fediverse really needs is a User Data Import/Export standard, where you can easily export your profile, communities, posts and comments to another instance.
But what I would say to you is that you’ve got enough name recognition and clout now that, if you get the energy to try again, your audience will travel with you. You don’t necessarily need to rebuild what you built on Piefed on another instance - just move to a place where its easier to continue the parts of this that you enjoy doing, and the audience will follow.
