I mean, surely they’ll notice pretty immediately when the DDR4 just straight up doesn’t work with their DDR5 CPU and motherboard. The electrical connections aren’t the same!
Frankly, I don’t see why they bother with actual chips (DDR4 or otherwise) at all. If it’s not going to work anyway, why not just glue on rectangles of plain black plastic?
