got a great deal at an estate sale, i9-9900k, 32gb ddr4, rtx 2070 for $350.

I started with debian but unfortunately it’s an Nvidia card. the big thing I want to try with this thing is emulating bloodborne, and maybe local AI models so performance is key.

will I be fine with debian or are the packages just too old?

edit: lmao debian wouldn’t boot or even successfully launch the terminal in recovery mode after installing the nvidia drivers so fuck that I switched to kubuntu since it’s what I have experience with it worked as expected beep boop bop. thank you for your suggestions everyone!

this is my first time with a prebuilt and it’s weird working with someone else’s HW choices. ugh the RAM rgb can’t be switched off I might try to mod it.

    Fedora is life.

For me it replaced every other distro, since the minimal install of its fedora Server flavour is just aß minimal as debian

    • Yeah, I switched my desktop and laptop for work and never looked back. As time goes on I’m learning more and more how to fix any oddities or bugs and find myself less and less familiar with Windows bullshit. I have one windows install in a VM to adjust my camera because it just refuses to work with Linux, but I set it and forget it. It’s so so so much nicer and runs nice and snappy on my cheep work laptop that barely booted the windows 11 it came with.
