Ubisoft have announced that their third-person hero-based melee fighting game FOR HONOR will be blocking all SteamOS / Linux players on September 10th.
2017-2018 was peak purely technologically speaking. AC Unity, despite the rough launch, in terms of pure graphics still could rival modern slop, while requiring only a fraction of compute power, while rendering huge crowds and on top of all of that featuring a motion-matching system, making animations fluid and clean af. For Honor was the first game where they used motion matching, while also offering interesting combat mechanics.
Say all you want, but during those years there still were talented and creative people at Ubisoft.
A lot of gamers consider anything after Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag (2014 or so) to be all garbage as the company enshittified.
I’ve not played anything Ubisoft since before that so I dunno if true, but yes, by their standards it’s modern Ubisoft, not classic Ubisoft
