EUR 2.99/kg.
There’s no way shipping 14kg from Germany to Slovakia costs almost EUR 48.
Actually, to nearby countries it would even be free, or at least at static price.
I made a map based on their info, though only for explicitly mentioned countries.
(this one is on Catbox as Lemmy doesn’t let me upload SVG)
If I had known this, I would have taken more of them when I was in Bratislava, and nearest Amazon Locker in Austria was just walking distance away.
I can’t even find any similar licorice sweets in Slovakia.
Though I wouldn’t really call these “salty” either. I guess it makes sense, these only have 1.8% of ammonium chloride.
Meanwhile, if Wikipedia can be trusted:
In Sweden, for example, the most popular types of salty liquorice contain an average of 7% of ammonium chloride. In 2012, there was a European Union proposal to limit the amount to 0.3%, which was met with wide opposition.

So yeah, absolutely on the low end.
Does the manufacturer or a dedicated candy seller sell them? Amazon may also be throwing their own tax on top of that
Look for “Katjes Salzige Heringe” and not at Amazon. There are for sure other shops who send those to Slovakia without insane shipping costs (and also without providing with Bezos with even more money, which is just a added benefit!).
I tried, but unfortunately to no avail.
I can only find smaller packs, or shops only shipping to Germany.
I found one that also ships to Slovakia, but when I put it into cart it calculated the shipping at EUR 45.Edit: The small packs of cat paws (no salt, but more licorice) are even more expensive where I can find them (they’re also available in 700g packs on Amazon).
Sounds like it’s time for a road trip. If not Slovakia, are they available anywhere in Austria, Czechia, or Poland?
I used to buy them on Amazon delivered to locker in Austria. Though they could also be delivered to InPost box in Poland.
Back then I was in Bratislava, so it was just walking distance from last bus stop to Kittsee.
Check final price on this Polish site https://allegro.pl/oferta/katjes-salzige-heringe-weganskie-sledziowe-zelki-ze-slodko-slonej-lukrecji-18195635328.
There is Slovakian version of same site but seller might not be there. https://allegro.sk/
Also fuck Amazon.
https://www.worldofsweets.de/Katjes-Salzige-Heringe-700g.330974.html (3,99€ like the price I’m seeing on amazon; site only available in English after accepting cookies for some reason) has 45€ for <28kg to SK (which means 39x)
Yeah, that’s the problem. It’s way too much. If it’s around EUR 25 or more, it’s cheaper for me to travel to Austria and pick it up from Amazon locker myself. Though that would be a full-day journey.
This is being resold by Amazon. Can you find original seller and see how much it costs?
I didn’t find another store that has this.
This seems like it could be their store, but I am not sure. It’s missing these larger packs, and the smaller ones are more expensive by weight: https://shop.katjes.de/products/salzige-heringe-210g
And they only ship to Germany.
In Austria the 700g ones from Amazon cost me EUR 4.10, because Austria only has a 10% tax on these items, while in Slovakia it’s 23%.
Does the 2x700g option have less shipping? Does the amount matter?
Nope. It’s by weight (EUR 2.99/kg).
With DHL 20kg (120 x 60 x 60 cm) to SK is just 28,49€. With that you could ship 28x, although I can’t gauge if it fits dimension-wise.
Also why is it listed so expensive? For me it’s shown as
4,51€-12% 3,99€
