Amazon Prime Video announced on Thursday that it is producing a live-action series adaptation of Hyuganatsu and Touko Shino’s The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) light novel series that will stream exclusively worldwide on Amazon Prime Video in 2028.     First, recognize that most of these are live action adapted from manga or light novel, not anime.

    Once you recognize that, there are tons of manga/ranobe witch live-action adaptation, and no anime adaptation at all.

    There are tons of good live-action adaptation, but mostly only with realistic settings. Shoujo, josei, and seinen media gets live-action adaptation, but not anime.

    Some example of good one:

    • Nodame Cantabile
    • City Hunter (any version are interesting, from Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, Hongkong (with Jackie Chen), even French live-action adaptation)
    • Alice in Borderland (had so many changes from the manga, especially for games that are too Japanese, possibly to make it easier for global audience?)
    • Great Teacher Onizuka
    • Gokusen
    • Bloody Monday
