Making the rounds in the news lately has been Elliot Page’s interview with On Film…With Kevin McCarthy, where he revealed that The Odyssey hasn’t brought in the wave of film offers one may expect after starring in one of the biggest movies of the year.

That bit he says about having to work through a performance to be able to get to a performance is deep as fuck.
Like, he’s inside the same person he’s always been, right? Eliot. But he had to act the role of Ellen for decades. So everything he did before transition was two acting roles at once. It was Eliot acting as Ellen acting as whatever. That’s some deep shit right there. It really gives me a flash of insight into what trans people experience that I’ve never had before.
But then! He follows up by saying that he could do his best work now, because that filter of having to act twice is gone. And I agree with the article’s author; that’s fucking beautiful.
