My english teacher wants to be able to see document history. He says that my process is more important than the product. Is there any way to do this in libreoffice or some other open source document editor?

I thought about it, but I don’t think my teacher knows how to use git. He’s already having issues importing a .odt into google drive if that tells you his technical ability.
My idealistic brain says that if he’s a teacher and wants you to learn stuff nonstop, he can put in the effort to learn git. But my realistic brain says that teachers are often hypocritical assholes with too much power
Okay, so the question is, if you enable tracking changes (seems the easier solution?) in LibreOffice, will that transfer if he opens the file in Google Docs or Word?
I don’t have an answer, I’m not up to date on how G and M$ mess up open file formats. But maybe this is an avenue to explore.
