I always assumed that they were just lying about their “privacy commitment”. No corpo type is going to be able to resist leaving that much data on the table. Nonetheless people quite prepared to eat up for the claim and criticise Google, who at least honest about it, it was a completely unfounded claim made by the company itself the very people most incentivize to lie.
