Sweden is among 13 countries, along with the UK, that opted for a “constitutive” system requiring citizens to formally apply to remain in the country. Others, like Spain, opted for a less onerous “declaratory” system requiring registration in the country, something many Britons would already have done at their town hall.
But campaigners at Brits in Sweden say countless British citizens were either given no information or incorrect information about what to do after Brexit by the authorities.
This is the British governments fault primarily. It was the British government’s responsibility to take care of their citizens and negotiate something.
The remainder lies with the just ousted right wing Swedish government
Because I am technically also arguing in support of authoritarian states. But I’m actually arguing against well off people who whine at their first inconvenience they caused themselves.
After Brexit, Britons and EU citizens who had exercised those free movement rights were told their rights to remain in their host country would be guaranteed in the legally binding withdrawal agreement.
She was born in the wrong place? Like if you’re born in Taiwan you stay in Taiwan. If you’re born in Mexico you stay in Mexico. If you’re born in Nepal, you stay in Nepal. If you’re born on earth you stay on earth.
Right? Stay where you were born. If you’re born in Africa in the worst possible conditions, stay there. That makes a lot of sense to me… Since I don’t live in Africa in the worst possible conditions.
Whatever happened to risking it all to make it big elsewhere? Remember? Like you want to be an ass-tronaut then go live in Florida and try getting into NASA… sorry I meant NAZA… If you want to be a great painter? Italy, France, Netherlands, Montana, Japan, Alaska. Singer? Las Vegas! A photo lithography expert… Netherlands, Tokyo, Taiwan, California. Biologist? California, Philadelphia. Ceramic expert? Mexico, China, Japan. Wild animal expert? Mexico, Thailand, Brazil Africa. Everywhere has possibilities but some areas have more than others.
So, no, I think that once you figure out what you want to do, you work your way up to meet the challenge.

Ok, but her whole mess started her NOT doing anything and ignoring the situation till the last possible minute. And then complaining it’s very sudden and mean.
She has no-one to blame but herself.
For what exactly?
It is your responsibility to know the laws of any country you visit, let alone move to.
Not being aware of the local law.
Victimblaming.
Being ignorant of the law doesn’t work in any jurisdiction.
Okay, spiteful tankie.
She’s wealthy and connected enough to have known better.
Also throwing names is childish.
So? Do you always get actively informed when laws change? Brexit was hardly stealthy.

We do not single out groups of people in Europe, last time we did that it ended up bad. Thats why they can’t.
“White people forget to check their privileges” is clearly a less sensational headline
Where’s the “tankie” angle to this?

Wow what a rebuttal

Lol what? No we were absolutely not told that.
We could apply to remain, and during that time wouldn’t get kicked out. And that was granted just fine.
Brexit rules. Loss of EU membership means loss of freedom of movement.
