Unsurprisingly it’s a heavy film, but also lots of funny moments. I think it’s good but probably tried to tell too many stories.
The best story, is looking at “To Catch A Predator” as entertainment versus justice. The film leans heavily into the “for entertainment” view and leaves it largely up to the audience to figure out the perverse incentives, the character of Del being the only real moral compass.
The film has a lot of focus on Chris Hansen as a person and it acts as a bit of a biography. I think it works in part, but we also have subplots about things like his affair which while perhaps true don’t really add much to the film.
Overall 7/10, maybe bump up to 8/10 for superb acting across the board, but probably just 7/10.
