They used pentobarbital. It is a drug that is used for medical treatments and euthanasia. It does not “provide extreme pain”. It essentially puts you to sleep and at high enough doses, it will depress the body’s functions leading to respiratory arrest.

Where is the extreme pain here?
If you are thinking of potassium chloride, which is known to cause an extreme sensation of burning at the injection site, it was not used for this execution.
Ethics/morality of execution aside, these comments are ignorant and inflammatory.
Become ungovernable.
Also, the lethal injection is no less cruel or painful than other forms of execution.
It is actually more inhumane - since it’s formulated in a way to provide extreme pain. A simple chop to the head is more humane than that injection.
