    It is historically common. We’re talking about using they/them when pronouns other than they/them are requested.

      Right, but as I understand it you made a claim that using they/them as a singular gender neutral pronoun was bending the language, which isn’t correct. Unless you meant something else?

        I was saying was that insisting on using they/them pronouns on someone who has requested otherwise would be a disrespect. The “bending the language” I referred to was in overwriting all preferred alternative pronouns with they/them, as the commentor was proposing doing that.
