It is an alternative to Youtube built on blockchain technology with no censorship, although users can be de-listed for extremes like child porn, etc. It also monetizes much like Youtube for content creators. I highly support efforts like this. I used it on Linux under Odysee. Youtube is complete censorship, even today content creators have to dance around anything to do with main topics like Covid, Israel and such, for risk of de-monetization or worse, a complete take-down.

The downside to LBRY/Odysee is that the videos/links are not found on search engines, so bad for creators. With no censorship, brings the wild-wild-west, with rumors of neo-nazi content, and such. Still, imo, I would rather filter through that stuff than have a corporation/gov’t tell me what I can and can’t view.

Yea about the filters someone explained that wery well, since its open source you can have diferent aplikacions that will be used to watch videos on lbry. For example we could have lbry kids app that will allow only content for kids. But if we adults want to be able to see all we can use app that doesnt block anything. So its on us to have filter as ve like not on youtube to tell us what we are allowed to see. Because on youtube many people are banned just for spreading the truth. Thats why lbry is created at first place…
