I know this isn’t the same thing, but I do something similar when ordering stuff when I’m with someone else. I always make them order and I can never say what it is I actually want. I always leave stuff out (that I do want), get smaller versions and just…try to make them guess what I really wish to get. I just can’t say it out loud.
I know it’s honestly annoying as fuck to everyone around, but I can’t stop…

I think it’s partially because of my mom. She used to sometimes shame me for getting the Ls instead of Ms, “ordering too much” (“your order is too expensive”) and just being a glutton in general (oh how the tables have turned…)
Idk, I’m probably just stupid.

    You’re so much like my spouse, I had to double check they weren’t secretly posting to lemmy as a European lol

    They do the same thing when we’re out, but luckily I’m good at picking up in what they really want, like if they’re lingering on something that costs 15, but then decide on something that’s 10 even though I know they’ve been talking about the 15 item… I’ll get the more expensive thing because I know it’s what they really wasn’t but they’re being self conscious due to childhood traumas and emotional/psychological abuse by their mother.
