The power trip / ban doesn’t bother me, but the misinformation does. They present as leftist, but flare up around US elections discouraging voter turnout via ‘bOtH siDeS’ garbage. that only ever elevates shit like MAGA.

In the linked thread, OP promotes rioting while discouraging voter turnout. My comments agreed with activism like riots, but pointed out that it’s not an either-or thing. You can riot -and- vote; and even if you don’t have it in you to riot, still do vote.

Anywho, YSK. Spaces like r/conservative were clearly labeled and easy to avoid; LateStageCapitalism@lemmy.world presents as a cause worth rallying around, but only until you peel up the veneer and see that they’re the same fucking thing.

Also please vote. In addition to whatever flavor of activism tickles your fancy.

      Leader Centricity - This one is a no brainer with tons of modern myths about Xi already that are easily debunked.

      Hyper nationalism - The cult of China is pretty darned intense as you demonstrate. China relies on the myth of national greatness, decline, and a vision of rebirth. All classic fascist qualities.

      Orwellian Surveillance - People are whisked away for displaying even the most minor grievance against the government. It is beyond ridiculous that they have converted most of their own populace into spies out of fear. Reminds me so much of Fascist Italy it isn’t funny.

      Corporate State Capitalism - CCP highly integrates many industries and exerts rigid controls on them. This is perhaps the most defining feature of fascism as explained by the person who coined the term. This is really what sets China apart from the US and makes even more fascist in nature.

      Militarism - The MIC in China is highly integrated into civilian research and industry is aligned as well. China has now moved to the fourth largest producer of arms in the World and will likely become third or second in the next decade depending if the US starts to fail. They sell weapons to worn torn parts of Africa where their weapons have ended up on both sides of the conflicts killing civilians. They are also giving material support to Russia to prolong the Ukrainian conflict.

      There are some decent counter arguments to some of these points, but I am not convinced. It is clear that China has many Neofascist and Neoauthoritarian qualities as opposed to strictly copying historical fascism or authoritarianism from a place like Italy, Germany, or the US.
