Did you know that they make these new-fangled things called “fans”? If the smell of people’s smoke bothers you (BBQ, weed, cigarettes, food, etc.), you use this fancy $20 FAN, point it toward the window, and any smoke is blown away from your home and your sensitive, delicate, noble nose.
Also… most windows have a “close” option, if you can’t afford a fan. You CLOSE the window and smells can’t go through it! It’s like magic.
Solve your own problems instead of trying to force other people around you to submit to your will. Nobody else gives a shit.
Why would ElectricVocalist have to buy a fan and run it just so you can smoke on your balcony?
The responsibility of producing smoke falls on the one who produces it, not everyone else who has to inhale it.
Regarding the post, I of course don’t think calling the cops on someone smoking is remotely OK, and the reaction was deserved.
But as a person with allergies to smoke who lives in a place where summers are really hot and can’t afford to run AC all day, do better. You can just smoke inside and run an air filter, or go take a walk and smoke while you’re moving so you don’t smoke close to any single person for a long time. You also have options, and some of them are free.
Hell, fans are free if you keep your eye out and are willing to clean it up a bit. Just finished a space heater I found in the garbage after the hurricane. Except for the yellowed case back, it looks brand new.
But anyway, here in America we have the god-given right to not be so much as slightly annoyed by another person’s behavior. It’s in the Constitution, I’m sure of it.
Or… you could buck up?

“ACCOMMODATE ME” - This fuckin’ guy.
Calling the cops on someone, especially these days, is not the play but holy shit, dude.
