I was taught only a e i o u 30 ish years ago and only that since then in school thereafter. After having learnt English throughout my life, it never occurred to me that Y can sometimes be a vowel even though by this point I’ve seen a lot of them happened lol
Learning something new is always a bonus. That’s just how I was taught in the way back when. Think there’s another character that can be a vowel like w or something but I can’t recall exactly and not common for sure. Just have to remember ‘why’ is there a vowel? It’s y, cause it needs to be somewhere in English words, least from my understanding, course there’s something to break every rule of linguistics.
