“Why” sounds like “Y”, and “Y” is only sometimes a vowel.

Huh thats how I was taught the vowels, a e i o u and sometimes y. Think I got the order right for how we were taught. Canada say 40 years ago or something for a reference, since I’m sure teachings differ.
I was taught only a e i o u 30 ish years ago and only that since then in school thereafter. After having learnt English throughout my life, it never occurred to me that Y can sometimes be a vowel even though by this point I’ve seen a lot of them happened lol
Also sometimes w. And arguably r, for linguists who consider /ɝ/ its own vowel sound.
