You’re a coward if you can still feel emotional pain after plunging that hot iron into a tangled mess of lead solder, inhaling deeply, and drifting off into the sweet, sweet embrace of saturnine bliss.
You’ll certainly be drooling, so I guess that counts as trickle down, but I very much doubt you’ll have shoelaces. Velcro straps will be much more suitable for where you’re going, weeeeee :)
I have very little soldering experience, but every once in a while at work I have to use a soldering iron to install heat-set threaded inserts into 3d prints.
The little machine that controls the soldering iron only has a power button and knob, and no indication that it is heating up or hot or even working. Each time I use it I convince myself that it isn’t on and have to test it. And each time I briefly consider using my hand. It’s always super hot.
I always poke it into the person sitting next to me to check if it’s hot. Their scream together with their sizzling skin and meat is a very satisfying noise too.
for anyone viewing this picture who is thinking of learning how to solder, don’t hold it there, thats the hot part.
Speaking from experience: you do that one time and then never again.
lmao yes
Like never again that week? Or… What’s a normal amount of time for that?
About an hour before you are cleared to try again.
I mean I learned my lesson.
If you smell burnt chicken, you’re holding it wrong!

You’re a coward if you still have feeling in your finger tips

Is that also how I learn about trickle down economics and pulling on my own bootstraps?

Just spit on it.
It not only gets hot, it rapidly gets hot. At my university, it takes a couple of minutes (2 or 3) to reach the Max temperature of 800°F
To check if it’s hot I always just poke it into the wet sponge to hear the hiss. It’s also a very satisfying noise.

we got a soldering iron with a flashlight in the handle, so when it’s hot it’s bright
