Nosferatu is furthest thing from original, existing mostly because the author failed to get the rights to Dracula. And Dracula? Oh, him being hot was the main reason he was dangerous.
In fact nosferatu might be a bit of a unique case, I believe Carmilla predates Dracula, and while I didn’t read that one, pretty sure the titular character is a lesbian temptress. Going even further back, wikipedia does mention “der vampir”, poem from 1748 having erotic overtones, I might research that more later, very interesting stuff
