I truly don’t know how it came this far. I guess it started with learning how bloated windows is. Then I debloated, and all of it came back the next update. I fought it for a while, but it got so under my skin when I learned they want you to sign in to use windows 11. Then I switched to Linux and started to slowly covert everything I use to FOSS and always running a vpn. Probably my biggest conversion and the only thing I haven’t been able to do is play the DMC collection and FFVII Rebirth.

Then I repurposed an old laptop into a NAS for some extra storage and self hosting. This started as a fun project and is now my pride and joy. Jellyfin has changed me.

Then my phone hit end of support after 3 years. It works flawlessly and does everything I need a phone to do, wtf? So I flashed Lineage. This is my most recent change and I’m using stuff like shelter to separate any proprietary apps into a work profile. Graphene is next once I get an old pixel. By far the most difficult swap.

Well, then my router hit end of support. Again, wtf? So I got one that comes packaged with open source software. And its 1000x more feature rich than any of my ASUS and Netgear routers ever were with an average support of 8+ years compared to the 2 or 3 I got with my nighthawk.

I guess in the end the more tech savvy you get the more you start to see the cracks in the system. The more you learn, the wider the cracks get until they can’t be ignored.
