  • It has been a while since I played one but I remember really enjoying Pokémon Unbound with some caveats. Those being, they decided to change typings for the hack. So my Charizard and Ampharous were Dragon type and it messed up my team dynamic pretty bad. Other than that no complaints at all. I think that one had QoL for HMs too where you can use any HM without teaching it so long as a Pokémon in your party can use it. However, I could be confusing it with another one, again, it has been a while.

There’s also another where you are a member of team rocket, and its really cool. It follows the story of Red/Blue/Green with a twist of what team Rockets intentions truly are and, by the end, it will have you rooting for team rocket pretty hardcore. There are a few rocket hacks out there but I think this is the most popular one.

Poor baby. Just this week I saw someone hit a cat in front of me and keep driving. I pulled over and tried to save it but he passed away before I got him in the car after he cut up my leg in confusion. No microchip so I gave him a proper, respectful burial. Then I came inside and let all my babies know how important they are to me.

  • And it still looks the way it does. I love me some Pokémon but at this point ROM hacks are a far more enjoyable, reliable, and respectful experience than the new Pokémon releases.

Knowing this is a game from the largest grossing multimedia franchise of all time, we could play ignorant and act like the bare minimum is okay. Or, we can open our eyes and realize they’re doing the least they can knowing the consumers are still going to buy it. Unfortunately, the market has decided on the blue pill.

  • I truly don’t know how it came this far. I guess it started with learning how bloated windows is. Then I debloated, and all of it came back the next update. I fought it for a while, but it got so under my skin when I learned they want you to sign in to use windows 11. Then I switched to Linux and started to slowly covert everything I use to FOSS and always running a vpn. Probably my biggest conversion and the only thing I haven’t been able to do is play the DMC collection and FFVII Rebirth.

Then I repurposed an old laptop into a NAS for some extra storage and self hosting. This started as a fun project and is now my pride and joy. Jellyfin has changed me.

Then my phone hit end of support after 3 years. It works flawlessly and does everything I need a phone to do, wtf? So I flashed Lineage. This is my most recent change and I’m using stuff like shelter to separate any proprietary apps into a work profile. Graphene is next once I get an old pixel. By far the most difficult swap.

Well, then my router hit end of support. Again, wtf? So I got one that comes packaged with open source software. And its 1000x more feature rich than any of my ASUS and Netgear routers ever were with an average support of 8+ years compared to the 2 or 3 I got with my nighthawk.

I guess in the end the more tech savvy you get the more you start to see the cracks in the system. The more you learn, the wider the cracks get until they can’t be ignored.

  • Hot take, but the open world nature of Elden Ring drove me crazy. Coming from a series grounded by its tightly knit and highly curated environments, I never understood why Elden Ring is so unanimously considered the “peak” of the series.

I enjoyed my time with it, but I couldn’t help but wonder what the game could have been without the open world inclusion. So for me it’s not necessarily “how big is too big”, but whether or not the gameplay necessitates an open world.

A good modern oled can get you within ~2ms difference from a CRT depending on how you measure. But the catch is the TV needs to have a low latency or “game” mode that shuts off the on-board video processing. My best recommendation is to browse TVs that are oled (not qled) in your price range, and check the listing for low latency or gaming modes. You should find something that fits the bill pretty quickly.
