Movie theatres gotta be cheaper if they want more people to go. They’re competing with my home theatre, comfy couch, and cheap snacks from the grocery store. A giant screen ain’t worth $50.
Plus, i can pause the movir at home to take piss break. I’m on a 90x90 system where i take a 90 second piss every 90 minutes. Piss big, piss often is just how i live my life
UK we have the Vue chain that has adult tickets to the latest films for as little as £5. They are often given as free monthly rewards for services like Sky TV, its why I go once a month. Sure its hardly IMAX or plush reclining seating but I have those nearby if the film warrants spending more.
UK also allows you to take your own snacks and drinks.
Theaters need to renegotiate their screening contracts. First couple weeks when most people see a movie most revenue goes to the filmmakers. So they use concessions to make up the difference. And once they can profit from the tickets fewer people are going so they need to get higher price for the showing to profit.
Honestly, if wages had kept up with costs I don’t think we’d care as much.

But how can theatres even afford the power bills on that model?
They get paid by Sky in my case, and a lot of people still buy snacks from them.

This right here. The source of 98% of my and my peers’ problems
Naw that is a loosing battle.
It is over for theaters. Their only chance now is go full boutique. Luxury this, luxury that.
