I’m very blue in a deeply red state. I completely understand the frustration of being politically ignored and having no meaningful representation in my state because of the red super-majority our our state legislature and governorship. If I had Knight’s money I’d be doing the exact thing he is with support for local blue candidates. So I disagree with Knight’s politics, but understand his actions at the state level. Again, I’m not excusing it, but there is a very real difference than writing trump or congress a check to help them stay in office.

This local level chicanery is exactly how Trump had the support to get into federal power, there is a straight line to draw between the two. We are not politically ignored by our representatives here, in fact Knight has long been seen as a local supervillain and I’m certain that there will be state legistlative responses to this PAC in some form or another. An no, if you had Knights money you wouldn’t be donating it to blue candidates because you’d be the type of ghoul who does whatever they need to get Phil Knight-levels of money, which is generally the opposite of donating to blue candidates in a red state.
