Zoomers are an interesting breeds. My zoomie girlfriend stresses about phone calls too. I just find it to be the quickest way to actually handle things. And much easier for me at work
I’d be more fine with messaging people if people weren’t so slow to react. Same people who get annoyed at me for calling them will ignore the message for 15 minutes or even if they’re reacting, they might just leave it as unread so I’ll be there waiting for them to answer. Infuriating.
Might be related to ADHD or something but I tend to forget things. So in emails and messages I can put all the details and also read it again later and be sure what was discussed. In person I kind of have a better feeling if everything was discussed and what the outcome was, I also remember it better. With phone calls, I have to be super careful. Take notes and if it’s really important also make a script about the topics I want to discuss…
Could send a message afterwards to confirm. I just often need a quick answer for stuff and that’s why I call, I don’t really mind waiting a bit if I know they’re actively looking for the answer
I’m sorry would they prefer me to take my gear off, type a message and wait at the bottom of the muddy dig with the rest of the crew for whenever they bother to reply?

I’m Gen Y and hate phone calls too. I prefer personal meetings OR text messages over phone calls

I write the email draft, then have the call and check if I said everything while talking. The point is, I would have to write stuff down anyways.
Phone only is dangerous because a lot of info is just in your head and not anyone else’s .3 weeks later it’s gone.
I end up sending the draft+ what was discussed additionally.

At work you are forcing people to drop anything and give you half assed answers.

I think I prefer calling
