This is hilarious. Now I am uber curious what other accent/language combos there are. Also, does your Nederlands influence your Engels? I mean, it must a little, right? So what would a French influenced English language Russian accent sound like??
I’d like to think it doesn’t, but yeah, I can ALWAYS hear when a dutch person speaks english, so it probably does.
Also, “Dunglish” is one of funniest/worst accents.
Last night one player said of another, “wow, that cowboy accent drifted to southern real fast.”
I was like, “we got a house rule: we don’t talk about accent drift at this table, buddy”
I’m bilingual, and there are certain accents I can only do in Dutch, and certain accents I do only in English.
When I switched games with Dutch friends from an English to a Dutch GM, my friends were like “she does the BEST Russian accent”.
Yeah sorry, I can literally only do it in English, just like my incredibly racist Arab accent only works in Dutch (and preferably not at all).
WAT NOU ACCENT!

What?!? That’s the BEST part of dnd!!
We give the gm shit over this regularly, and it’s so freaking funny.
That’s fine, but I want my shy players doing more accents, so no one teases anyone about all our awful accents.
All my accents end up Irish/Canadian/South African hybrid.
