I think a lot of people like sci fi when it’s effortless. Star wars etc. They don’t want to get too deep into the technicals like star trek does. The expanse has that effortlessness imo. Nothings overly explained, they spend about 14 seconds talking about acceleration and deceleration just to frame the timelines for travel but it’s not geeky.

Whoever else said it in this post is right, the porkpie hat killed its chance at true fame, and the implication that this is some kind of true crime mystery show. Both of which are wild unintentional misdirections away from what the show actually is!
