      I’m going to second this.

What are you using to try and get the game to run? (Wine, bottles, Lutris, Steam, Heroic, etc)

What game are you trying to play?

Steam on vanilla Steam Deck. The screenshots are from X-Plane 11 and Tryp: FPV. Some other games (Baldur’s Gate 3) also sometimes randomly crash.

I know, I should go complain to Valve. Sorry, just wanted to post my cool screenshot collection.

X-Plane 11 is listed as native Linux game. It should not even need a Windows compatibilty layer (i.e. Proton) to run. I’m not sure why steam downloaded the Windows version. In Steam, open the game properties and try to get it to download the Linux version.

Baulders Gate om Steam Deck should run smooth enough based on other Steam Deck users on Protondb. Idk, update your drivers and maybe change the proton version you are running?

Oh, cool. It’s possible it’s just the version of proton it’s defaulting to if multiple games are crashing.

For X-Plane 11 I would look at what’s listed here on Protondb for a potential fix. More that likely you’ll find the answer you need there.

If that doesn’t work, you could also try installing additional versions of Proton (Glorious Eggroll usually contains fixes that in my experience, just work). You should be able to install them from the Discover store. For that I recommend ProtonPlus if you don’t already have that installed.

And no apology necessary! Gaming on Linux can be frustrating at times. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a game of mine struggle to run, but before Valve released proton it was a massive headache.

Hope that helps get your game running!

Since everyone will likely give you varied answers I’m going to recommend this list from Protondb.

You can also see what Valve recommends here for another good batch of games.

Me personally, I’ve had great luck with Indie games, Story heavy single player games like Dispatch and for multiplayer, I can guarantee that Helldivers 2 works.
