This little territory has lost like half a million people due to them invading Ukraine. Somehow.

And according to the Kremlin, it was a 3 day operation. Very efficient.

Can you cite that? According to the official statistics the population of the whole region is around 1 032 000 people now and has been around 1 029 000 in 2021, the stats are mirrored in wiki, russian only:

      https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Население_Калининградской_области

The official source is rosstat.gov.ru but my browser says that there is a potential security risk.

I know you’ve already received a woosh but the explanation is this: the post makes the joke that Kaliningrad is all that Russia is and in that context, Kaliningrad having managed to lose half a million citizens in a war with their neighbour that they don’t even border is comical.

Of course, that is not the reality. Kaliningrad is a small exclave of Russia.

I understand the meme and honestly thought you were serious in your comment to the point where I was hoping it to be true and went to look if that was the case.

          Also what’s wooshing?

Wouldn’t that be something. With a population of 1mil, losing half of it would be quite devastating. The “woosh” is a relic of a meme. The woosh is the sound the joke makes when it flies over your head and misses you.
