Came back from the war, saw how badly veterans were treated, started a charity, yadayada, joined the Nazi party really early partly because the Nazis supported veterans as Hitler was one too. The thing with fascism is that fundamentally it’s sadomasochistic. Those at the bottom love to kiss the boot. Those at the top have contempt for the weak. That includes those below them that were weak enough to allow themselves to be subjugated. Those that are weak deserve to suffer. This is why Hitler blamed the German people for the failure of the Reich. Despised them even. Towards the end felt they deserved their fate for being weak.
This is also why no one’s safe under a fascist regime. As the Israelis above discovered. Probably won’t admit they’re living under fascism yet though, due to how they were educated.
