    Hmm, looks like clamping down on account sharing didn’t turn everyone off after all.

      These are worldwide subscriber numbers. That number goes up because they keep adding countries, and then using the high prices in existing markets like North America to subsidize lower prices in emerging markets. This makes it easy to add subscribers. At a later date they will probably start slowly raising prices in those markets, just like they did in the US.

      If you do some internet searches, you’ll see North American subscribers have been stuck at around 80 million for a few years.
