Meh. It was giving a shitload more value than it was taking, and $19.80/yr is still peanuts. I don’t like the boiling frog effect, but there are far more egregious examples.

Basic password management is literally the only thing I want from Bitwarden. Like @CoyoteFacts@piefed.ca I also pay for premium as a pseudo donation, but this may push me to self hosting too. It’s not even the price increase, it’s that this smells like enshittification and makes me wary to keep trusting them with something so important.
Even if we put aside enshittification, who is asking for these features? I never did; I just want a plan that has password, TOTP, and Passkey management + sharing. If people want all that extra stuff, like email masking, secure sending, and gigantic attachments, let them pay $20 a
monthyear and let the rest of us have a $10 plan with just password management + sharing.This seems like some executive losing the plot of what this software is to people.

People need to remember that Bitwarden is just another VC-funded entity abusing the FOSS community for leverage until they go public when the VC bros start demanding returns. I tried moving from KeePass to Bitwarden 5 or 6 years ago, but something about it just smelled “off” to me, so I stuck with KeePass. Glad I did.
All VC-funded projects will enshittify at some point. Pay attention.
I would love this approach! Let existing users stay on a grandfathered plan that keeps the same price and features unless they want to upgrade!
I tried it for a year to compare it to 1password, but I didn’t like the fact that their Notes type didn’t include markup.
If I wasn’t already invested in 1P, however, I would definitely use it and be happy with it.

Still cheaper than LastPass Premium and I prefer Bitwarden overall so while the price increase is a bummer I’ll probably stay with them. But if it really bothered me I’d maybe stick to using KeePass.
What might be better is if Bitwarden would remove the 5 GB storage for attachments from their plan and turn it into a $ monthly add-on. Then keep the Premium minus file storage at its original price. Seems better than bundling the two and increase the price together IMO… I suspect most people don’t need their hosted file attachments and just want a password manager.
I think lastPass was breached a few times
Yes indeed. I’m done with LastPass and would never go back but I suspect to the general public they’re still the most well known password manager (for better or worse) so it seems fair to compare against them.
I switched to self-hosted Vaultwarden and it was so trivial. I had it set up and switched in literally like 10 or 15 minutes. The ability to export your vault from any of your devices makes it less of a concern that you might accidentally wipe your Vaultwarden DB and be screwed, and you don’t even need to add surface area by exposing it to the internet if all your devices log onto your local network occasionally.
Originally I was okay kicking $10 to Bitwarden as a sort of donation, but them doubling the fee for dubious “ooh fancy smart scanning tech” just seems like them wanting more money, or at least misusing the money that they have. If they polled users to ask “do you want to spend double the fee for us to do smart scanning?” I guarantee they would have gotten a resounding ‘no’.

Did your TOTP and passkeys transfer over?
TOTP yes
TOTP yes. I don’t normally have any passkeys (not political, it’s just new tech that I don’t use enough), but I tested with passkeys.io and passkey creation works with Vaultwarden, and the passkey then exports as expected, so I would guess all fine. When transferring from BW->VW, I’d recommend using the .zip export option so that it carries over attachments also.

I just switched to the free plan for now. Vaultwarden seems cool, otherwise I might just keep the free Bitwarden plan.
After years using it, both my spouse and I happily supporting it with our Premium subs, maybe it’s time for a change as I see nothing new that would be worth the almost doubling of the price.
There’s nothing there to justify doubling the price in my opinion. Which is funny as I was considering buying premium as a form of donation.
I was happy to donate 10$ per year for years a hidden donation. Just switched to Vaultwarden, 20$ is toot greedy.
