People with major depressive disorder can see a rapid and lasting improvement after a single dose of the psychedelic drug dimethyltryptamine (DMT) when it is combined with psychotherapy, doctors have said.

A small clinical trial involving 34 people found that psychedelic-assisted therapy prompted a swift reduction in depressive symptoms that endured long after the drug had worn off, with some still feeling the benefits six months later.

“There is an immediate antidepressant effect that is significantly sustained over a three-month period and that’s exciting because this is one session with a drug, embedded in psychological support,” said Dr David Erritzoe, a psychiatrist at Imperial College London and lead investigator on the trial.

I tried it once perhaps 15 years ago, and I still look back fondly on that brief event. Maybe I should try it again, I can get my hands on it and I don’t give a shit about legality. As far as I’m concerned, my government are all criminals, if the law doesn’t apply to them it don’t apply to me. Just have to be cautious about it.

Fucked up world, huh, having to sneak around doing illegal shit for ones mental health, it’s not even about making money or anything, just having to self medicate because the health care system won’t provide the necessary treatment. Brave new world…

I had a blast when I first discovered it. Introduced my Dad, as he had told me all these great stories about LSD in the 60s and early 70s.

Just can’t find it these days, but I haven’t tried either.
