Portable hard drive. These babies were more durable than floppies and could store about 700k on a capacitor array. Iirc, the glovebox would open to show 6" CRT so you could play games on the road, only the cables were so short only the front passengers could play without the $60 extender. The only downside was the aftermarket installers usually installed a separate pair of speakers yould hang from the shades, so the car stereo would sometimes drown out the bgm.

Same. I had one of these with a 5 CD changer but for some reason it was in the boot/trunk.
I also had a car with the multiple CD’s in the trunk. I think it was a Mercedes
Pfft! It’s 2026 now… the stereo in my car holds 6 CDs.
