    I like that this is probably some Wikipedia editor’s cat and they kept the picture because it was probably creative commons share/share alike licensed by the editor and thus free to use.

      Nope. It comes from Flickr around nine years before being uploaded to Commons. The Commons description “My cat loves styrofoam peanuts” is likely lifted verbatim from the Flickr post, as we tend to do this with other such descriptions.

      Cat’s name was Cooper, by the way.

      I am delighted to report that the image description on Commons is “My cat loves styrofoam peanuts”

      (specifically that’s the description of the original upload, not the cropped one on the article, but still)

      Also it’s geo-tagged to a specific house in Canada. I hope that was a choice made consciously
