Nightreign made me sad, duskblood looks far worse…this is like a safe space and kinda makes me think Miyazaki maybe made things worse by trying to duct tape Resident Evil vibes to a wonderful ecosystem for cash.

Ubuntu is a solid option to start, and stay. Llm’s know it well, everything targets Ubuntu and the ecosystem covers server, workstation, IoT, containers and various architectures.
For non-corporate stuff I’m a fan of the antiX and MX ecosystems, Debian with rims on and a lot of user choice, control and toolkits to make things easy to manage.
I’d be wary of peeps saying ‘distro XYZ is shit’, try stuff and see what you think. Arch is a fragile restrictive toy ime, but loads seem to love it.
If it’s just a basic workstation most distros likely fine, pick something you like the vibes of and see how you go.
